TRUE CHAMPS, PRODUCERS OF THE YEAR

Vokab Vs Big Pops BATTLE OF THE BEATMAKERS
...
CMG PRODUCERS, BATTLE IT OUT IN THE SEMI-FINALS
Vokab Vs Big Pops BATTLE OF THE BEATMAKERS

It's been about a year since I came onto this guy's beats. Some guy by the name of... Vokab.
Actually, it was the first time I got my head sprung by every beat on a myspace player. We had been on each others msn for years for some reason, but never said boo to one another. I went back to this guys facebook and had to let him know that he had some real "shit" going on. True story.

It's also been about a year since the last BBM (Battle of the Beat Makers), you know the one that had the biggest controversy of all BBM's when the crowd called for Contejous Managements' Arthur McArthur (www.myspace.com/arthurmcarthur) as the victor, but the judges scored the win to Boi 1da (G-unit, Kardi, Ludacris).
This year's grudge match was historical, but still left a lot of controversy (true story). We'll get into that further on.

Back to Vokab. Shortly after I contacted him, he hollered back and told me, "Legion Of Beats" got some shit too. About a month after that, I got a contact looking for some beats for one of Primo's artist. I immediately thought of Vokab. That's when he told me about his team with Contejous Management.

Enter this years Battle of the Beat Makers:

Contejous Management enters with not one, but three of their heavy hitters. Vokab, Big Pops, and newcomer, Nyra...Plus their grudge match player, Arthur McArthur.

I asked Mr. Contejous himself, his views on the battles.

"Pops (www.myspace.com/bigpopsbeats) started strong, which we talked about in the prep of the battle wow the crowd right away..." "(Vokab) he played a dope beat to start too, our whole teams plan was to start strong Nyra (www.myspace.com/dobnyra) played one of his doper beats to start as well (beat for Hear Ya Moms Crying), altho, because people had heard it before it may have taken away from peoples hype over it."

"its too bad that Vokab (www.myspace.com/vokabfulleffectproductions) and Nyra were eliminated by Big Pops (Nyra in the final 8, and Vokab in the final 4) but at the same time, better to lose to fam and know one of you is going ahead than to lose to someone you don't know."

"..overall I'm really happy how the whole team did. Nyra for his first BBM (and being the youngest on the team) did well getting to the third round Vokab for his first BBM and not necessarily having the Synth/South stuff that has generally (Ric Notes and Gigz aside) been really successful at the BBM did really well too getting into the final 4."

Unfamiliar with Nyra, I asked him who this Nyra guy was?

"Nyra is one of my producers as well he produced Infinite's first single of his new album "Hear Ya Moms Crying" and a couple other joints on Infinite's album."

In the end it was a Contejous night. Big Pops won it all in the end, McArthur won the grudge match against Boi 1da, and the whole team left winners.

I asked what the team is up to now and the near future.

"Our biggest team project right now is: Contejous MGMT & Traumashop Present: The Sound Of A Gun Mixtape w. DJ On Point. Hosted By Alchemist & Mr. Probz. Got the single "Sound Of A Gun" - Mr. Probz ft. Alchemist & Sonny Diablo (Prod. by Big Pops)."

"Also working on a ton with Big Lou (shooting 2 videos in NY this week that both ft. Mr Probz..both produced by Northern Profit (Big Pops, Arthur McArthur, Philly Blunt, and Badnuz)."

"...Had a track we did with Lil Wayne leak on DJ Big Mike's Grand Theft Audio 6 a couple weeks ago "So Many Guns, Ima Shoot One" (Prod. by Northern Profit) was on HiphopGame.com and AllhipHop.com. Also, have a lot of big names coming on our beats too but i dont want to speak on em just yet to ruin the hype when we want to build it, lol."

Shout outs?

"sound supremacy, the judges: boi 1da, gigz, and ric notes, all 32 producers who competed, and Legion Of Beats!"

It's funny; when I look back at my crystal ball that told me Vokab had this years BBM, just like it had Rick Notes in last years final, I shake my head and am glad It wasn't too far off. I'll keep it around for another year. Big Congrats to Big Pops.

Now back to the grudge match...

I asked Boi 1da his view on the grudge match...

"I won 2 rounds out of 3, but then they let the crowd decide, and he had more people for him in the crowd, so he wins."

In your opinion, did he rightfully deserve the win?

"No, but I'm not in control of that... but a win is a win, so congrats to him"

I replied, "Thanks for your honest opinion bro." And followed with, "Your overall take on the night?"

"Big pops, Mega man and Vokab impressed me. Shout out to all of them."

Unbeknown to 1da was the fact that there is still massive controversy about who really won the grudge match.

Legion Music and Media has plans to bury this controversial battle once and for all....
